Monica Wang is a Registered Acupuncturist and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner in British Columbia with over 12 years of experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in TCM from a university in China, where she also completed her medical residency, gaining extensive hands-on clinical training across multiple hospital departments.
Monica focuses on chronic physical pain, especially for athletes and office workers, treating neck pain, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, and lower back pain caused by repetitive strain. She also supports patients with mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia, headaches, and facial paralysis, and brings four years of experience treating post-stroke sequelae and sports injuries at a rehabilitation hospital.
She takes a holistic approach that addresses both physical and emotional well-being, building personalized recovery and rehabilitation programs to help patients restore mobility and improve their quality of life. Monica regularly attends medical conferences and refresher courses to stay current with advances in TCM, and is fluent in English and Mandarin.

What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first appointment includes a detailed health history and a TCM assessment, which may include pulse and tongue observation, followed by treatment. Plan for about 60–90 minutes.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very fine. Most people feel a brief sensation on insertion, followed by heaviness, warmth, or relaxation. Many patients fall asleep during treatment.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover acupuncture by a Registered TCM Practitioner. Check your plan for coverage details.
Is acupuncture covered by MSP?
MSP may provide partial coverage for acupuncture for people receiving MSP premium assistance, for a limited number of visits per year. Please ask us for details.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, eat a light meal beforehand, and bring a list of any medications or supplements you take.
